Scholarship Criteria


DMALI is a non-profit organization with a professional interest in Long Island’s direct marketing industry. The association’s mission is to provide an exchange of marketing information with a focus on cutting edge technology, strategies, regulations and case studies. The organization is committed to educational and networking opportunities, observes the highest ethical business standards, promotes a public understanding of direct marketing and offers annual scholarships to Long Island students majoring in marketing.


Annually, DMALI awards up to three $2,000 scholarships to Long Island students attending an accredited university or college and majoring in marketing, direct marketing, advertising, communications, electronic marketing or a related field.   Schools are notified when applications will be accepted.

  • DMALI’s application must be completed.
  • Write a 500 word essay describing why you should receive this scholarship.
  • A writing sample from the applicant – One sample only; e.g. a press release, copy for a print ad campaign, copy for a direct mailing campaign (letter or postal card is acceptable), copy for an e-blast campaign or e-newsletter or other sample indicating writing style
  • One reference from your school’s faculty.
  • Your current resume.


The completed application with supporting documents, including the writing sample, must be filled out here by May 22, 2017.  Only electronic submissions will be considered.  Recipients will be notified by if they have been selected.


The recipient of the Scholarship Awards along with their immediate family will be DMALI’s guests at a luncheon.  They will be presented with the check, made payable to the school, at that time.  A press release will be sent to local papers and the names of the award recipients will be posted on DMALI’s website.
